Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., at the end of his life, was working to create The Poor People’s Campaign, an effort to create a movement that would embrace all those in our nation seeking to combat economic inequality, not just for Black people, but for everyone. Faith in action for

those who would heed his call meant acting, not just talking or thinking, about remaking the nation’s economic structures. In the face of planetary threats to our climate and our very existence, how do Dr King’s words and deeds provide us with a plan of action for our future?

About Dr. Fullilove:

Robert E. Fullilove, EdD is the Associate Dean for Community and Minority Affairs, Professor of Clinical Sociomedical Sciences and the co-director of the Cities Research Group. Dr Fullilove has authored numerous articles in the area of minority health. Since 2010, he has been teaching public health courses in six New York State prisons that are part of the Bard College Prison Initiative (BPI) and serves as the Senior Advisor to BPI’s public health program. Dr Fullilove has been awarded the Distinguished Teaching Award at the Mailman School of Public Health three times (in 1995, 2001, and 2013).
