On Martin Luther King Day, January 17th,2005, a Freedom Quilting Bee was held at our Church, with participants from our membership, our church school, and students from Central Elementary School. The event was cosponsored by our Religious Education program and our Urban Community Ministry project. On February 18th, 2005, Rev. Anthony Johnson, his wife Jody Leight, and Director of Religious Education Aisha Hauser presented the quilt to Principal Debby Luckey of the Central Elementary School at an assembly celebrating Black History Month.
