Use of the Church by Non-Members for Weddings, Dedications, Funerals, and Memorial Services

The congregation of the First Unitarian Universalist Church invites individuals and families without congregational affiliations to celebrate weddings, holy unions, child dedications, funerals and memorial services at our meeting house when it is not in use by the congregation.   It is the policy of the congregation that all religious rites of passage be open to all regardless of race, class, gender, creed, sexual orientation, ability or disability. The Sanctuary and Parish Hall are wheelchair accessible.

The 1893 Sanctuary of the First Unitarian Universalist Church of Essex County is a classic of the arts and crafts style and comfortably seats 125.   It has excellent acoustics and is wheelchair accessible.   The adjacent Parish Hall can accommodate a similar number for receptions as the Sanctuary can for services.   There is a parking lot behind the church and handicapped spaces on the street in front of the church.

The congregation will make the facilities available for non-members at a reasonable charge.   For information regarding fees, see our Building Use Policy.
